FAQ

What is ECSA?

Emerald City Softball Association (ECSA) is Seattle’s LGTBQ and allied softball league. Established in 1980, ECSA has provided a safe place for people of backgrounds to play softball.

What is an Open Division?

As an Open Division, ECSA welcomes people of all backgrounds, gender identities, races, religious affiliations, political affiliations, sexual orientations, and ages 18+ into the league.

Some other local and national leagues are not as open and have requirements to join (i.e. mens division (men only), and women’s division (women only)).

What are ECSA's Seasons?

ECSA currently has two seasons:

  1. Regular Season—Often starting in April and continuing through the end of June, ECSA’s regular season is the most popular choice for members, often bringing in more than 30 teams each season. The regular season is also a qualifying season for teams to obtain a berth to the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series (GSWS).
  2. Fall Ball—This league is a recreation-focused league running for 6 weeks after GSWS. Many of the game days are “themed” and are meant as as a unique, fun experience for new and seasoned softball players.
